Welcome to our web site.  This information is provided as an aid to any other schools who wish to develop their own web presence.

The site runs on the Joomla content management system.  Once installed, Joomla allows non technical users to update the pages without them having to master web technologies. Best of all Joomla is free.

The Domain www.holynameprep.edu.tt is a free domain registered at the Trinidad and Tobago Network Information Center (TTNIC). All .edu.tt domains are free of charge at the TTNIC. If you want to register a .edu.tt domain just visit http://www.nic.tt.

The site is hosted at www.bluehost.com. So far they have provided excellent support and a relatively pain free experience.  Bluehost charges US $6.95 per month but gives you a ton of disk space, monthly data transfer and tools too numerous to mention.  Well worth the price.

A great deal of the content comes from other sources. The links section has links to some of the best children’s sites I know of.  The News feeds sections pulls in RSS news feeds from Yahoo, National Geographic and PBS. The nice thing about those feeds is that they update automatically so I don't have  to do anything.

This site is for the Holy Name Prep community - students, staff, parents and alumni so I hope that everyone jumps in with suggestions and ideas.  Joomla makes it relatively easy for non technical folks to add content which can then be approved by the administrators - in this case Sister Stephanie.  The best way to make this site work for the school is to have everyone in the community contribute to it.
